Want to wakeup feeling refreshed? We donât mean washing you face with lemons or having lemonade for breakfast. Read on and weâll give you tips on how you can use this multipurpose fruit in the home. Lemon is acidic and that is what gives it that fresh scent.
Using lemons as aromatherapy can calm fears and lift depression. Just add a few drops into a diffuser, take a few deep breaths and feel the stress being lifted away. It is a good antiseptic, killer of mould, germs and bacteria. Lemons are also a great cleaning agent. Here are some ways you can use lemon juice or its slices:
1. To clean your microwave â" A few slices of lemon placed in a cup of water and heated for 30 seconds will leave your microwave smelling fresh afterwards. You can also deodorise the kitchen counters, cutting boards and many more.
2. To clean your glasses â" Lemons are excellent stain removers. Mix a solution of half water and half lemon juice. Let your glass sit in it for a few hours and wash as usual. You will see the shine in no time.
3. To clean metals like chrome, copper and brass â" Rub metal with cut lemon or wash in a mixture of lemon juice and salt, either way it works like magic!

4. To remove soap scum and shine shower stalls â" Wash shower stalls, bathtubs and sinks with lemon juice on sponge. Let it sit for a few hours and then rinse for a cleaner and shinier bathroom! Use lemon juice on mineral build-ups that always reside around faucets and any other hard to reach areas too.
5. To whiten clothes â" No, we are not kidding. Soak clothes in lemon juice, rinse and hang clothes in the sun. Lemons combined with the sun have been proven to whiten clothes without the need for harsh chemicals.
So, the next time you reach for your chemical cleaner, reach for a few lemons instead. They are cheaper, healthier and better for the environment too.
