As many as 100 to 1,000 different VOCs may be in the indoor environment where adults and children can easily inhale them. Long-term exposure even to small amounts of VOCs can adversely impact health. Children are at a greater risk for developing health problems as they breathe in more air with respect to their body size than adults and thus have greater exposure to VOCs and other indoor pollutants.
